When pressed on the issue of corporate security, most top executives are almost clueless about the types and layers of security installed in their organization. Yes, they're aware of the guard at the entrance, but from that point on it's all a guesstimate based on what they've been told by those further down the corporate ladder.
And quite frankly, that's pretty much the way it has been for years. Let's fact it, top executives are generally quite busy and find it all but impossible to delve into the nitty-gritty of any single corporate function, including security. Instead, this thankless task is generally delegated down the corporate ladder to the various department heads, who in turn may delegate it down even further.
Sadly, the result of all this “specializing” results in the lack of a comprehensive security program with integrated objectives for the overall corporation.. For all too many, security becomes more of a “buzz word” than a serious topic.
Recognizing these problems, Jack Koenig & Associates has begun developing a comprehensive security audit program for small and medium size companies. In addition to data security (one of our “long suits”), we are looking at all aspects of telecommunications security, physical office and plant security, archival integrity and security, and executive home security (residence and home office).
As this program develops, we'll open a new section on Jack Koenig & Associates devoted to its “meat and potatoes.”
